Regular meetings: are held the second Tuesday of each month September through May at the clubhouse, 110 N. Hammonds Ferry Rd., Linthicum unless otherwise noted.

  • “Swing into Spring” was the theme for the GFWC Woman's Club of Linthicum Heights' Annual Awards and Installation Luncheon at Snyder’s Willow Grove in Linthicum. The installing officer was Beverly Death, first vice-president of GFWC Maryland Federation of Women's Clubs and member of the GFWC Chesapeake Woman's Club.

  • The club held its annual youth competition for writers and artists and held a reception at the clubhouse attended by the winning students, parents and teachers. Scholarships of $750.00 each were awarded to North County High School seniors Jonathan Hrybyk, Erin Harrington, Michael Baschenis and Jennifer Brodie by the GFWC Woman's Club of Linthicum Heights during the school's awards ceremony. The annual scholarships are based on academic performance and community involvement. In addition, Hrybyk and Sabaina Arsdad, the 2007 recipients of the club's outstanding boy and girl awards, will have their names engraved on the club's Outstanding Students Plaque at the school. For their creative writing skills, Rebecca Mount of Lindale Middle School and Kaitlin Harrell of Brooklyn Park Middle School received $100 savings bonds. The club's annual Adopt-A-Teacher Award went to Marilyn Colley at Overlook Elementary School. Dictionaries were presented to outstanding students in area schools. They included LINTHICUM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL -- Brooke Baxter, Tawny Culp and Nastasia Vasconcells; OVERLOOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL -- Crystal Goucher, HILLTOP ELEMENTARY SCHOOL -- Faith Holley, BELLE GROVE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL -- Royce Schluter, and NORTH GLEN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL -- Tamoira Duncan, and GEORGE CROMWELL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL -- Devyn King. Funds for the annual educational awards are raised from the club's fundraisers. The awards were presented by club members at the schools' closing ceremonies.
  • Here is the lineup for this summer in the Park! Since Linthicum is observing its centennial this year, three of the performing groups have Linthicum Roots. Concerts in the Park, 28th season,
  • Presented by GFWC Woman's Club of Linthicum Heights the concerts are held at 6 p.m. in Linthicum Park, Benton Avenue, off Route 170 in Linthicum. All concerts are free and open to the public. Donations accepted. If it rains, concerts are canceled. Bring seating. No alcoholic beverages. Information: Jo Barker, 410-859-3308.

  • SPECIAL NOTICES:

  • The EDUCATION COMMITTEE is collecting General Foods box tops and Campbell’s UPC codes. We also ask you to designate Overlook Elementary School (Code #1096) as your recipient school for Giant’s A+ Bonus Bucks. You must sign up each year in-store or on online at www.giantfood.com.
  • PENNIES FOR ART: Save your pennies and bring them each month to the clubhouse. We will be collecting pennies to supplement the award fund of the MFWC Youth Art Program.
  • RONALD McDONALD HOUSE: We are still collecting the pull tabs from soft drink cans and small, travel-sized toiletries for the guests living at the house. Please bring these items to the clubhouse each month.
  • The International Committee collects school supplies for an orphanage in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The club is supporting the Missionaries of Charity Orphanage in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia all year as an on-going project. Collections at meetings include clothing, shoes, personal hygiene items, school supplies and small toys. Persons interested in helping the club with this project should call Jean Rock, 410-859-1593.
  • The Evening Group of the club: normally meets the 4th Monday of each month at 7PM unless otherwise listed. Call Jo Barker at 410-859-3308 for information.
  • Arts & Crafts Committee: meetings are normally held the 4th Monday - September through April at 9:30 AM at the clubhouse.
  • Literature Committee: meetings are held every 3rd Thursday at noon in members's homes, September through May. All club members are welcome.
