Regular meetings: are held the second Tuesday of each month September through May at the clubhouse, 110 N. Hammonds Ferry Rd., Linthicum unless otherwise noted.

  • CONCERTS IN THE PARK
  • The GFWC Woman's Club of Linthicum Heights presents its 29th season of free Concerts in the Park beginning Sunday, June 28. All concerts are held in Linthicum Park, Benton Avenue (off Route 170 at the firehouse's blinking light), Linthicum. Concert time is 6 p.m. Concerts will be canceled in case of rain. Bring chairs/cooler/supper, no alcoholic beverages permitted. Information: 410-859-3308.
  • June 28 - The Rhythmcats A premiere performing group in the Mid-Atlantic region performing many genres including Pop, Blues, Latin, Fifties/Oldies and more.
  • July 5 - The Swingin' Swamis Performs an eclectic set of jazz and world rhythms.
  • July 12 - Big Band Caliente A big band group mixing the best of the big band sound with red hot jazz.
  • July 19 - Bayside Big Band The full sound of a big band playing 40's swing & jazz. Come and dance the evening away.
  • July 26 - Black Sombrero Brass A band that recreates the rich brass sounds of Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.
  • Aug. 2 - Annapolis Bluegrass Coalition The five-piece bluegrass group from Annapolis plays a program featuring traditional, contemporary and original bluegrass. A favorite of the Concerts in the Parks audiences.
  • Aug. 9 - Crabtowne Big Band Another favorite of the Concerts in the Park audiences, the band under the baton of Bill Yakaitis (husband of club member Anne Yakaitis)' features a female vocalist and plays music made popular by Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, & Tommy Dorsey along with music by modern pop artists. This will be the band's 23rd appearance at the concert series.

  • The club continued its winning ways at April's GFWC-MFWC's 110th Annual Covention at the BWI Marriott Hotel in Linthicum and the Southern District meeting at Blob's Park in Jessup. The awards were announced by President Simon at the club's annual May luncheon. At the state level, the club garnered nine awards and 12 at the district level.

  • Writers & Artists Reception
  • The club held its "Spring Awards Program and Reception" for the winners of its annual Youth Writing and Art Contest at the clubhouse in April. Attending were club members, students, parents and teachers. Participating students were from Linthicum and Overlook Elementary Schools; Old Mill, Brooklyn and Corkran Middle Schools; Monsignor Slade Regional Catholic School; and North County and Glen Burnie High Schools.

Class 2 - (Grades 9 - 12) winners: 1st – Adriana Graybill, North County High School, mixed media, 2nd –Veronica Lathroum, NCHS, water color, ink, 3rd –Ashely Lim, NCHS, colored pencil-ornaments, HM-Danny Siebenhaar, NCHS, pencil-trees and light; Kory Johnson, OMHS, charcoal-chair and drape.

  • This year's judges for the youth art contest were Linthicum artists Olin Yoder and Bob Nichols. New to the judges' panel this year was Will Niebauer, a native of Linthicum. A graduate of Andover High School, Niebauer was Yoder's student at Catonsville Community College. A sculptor, he is currently on the faculty of Essex Community College. For her service as Youth Art Chairman for 16 years, Eloise Vaughan, was given a gift of a framed drawing and water color of the Vaughan home in Linthicum. The presentation was made by President Simon at the club's annual luncheon May 12 at the Rolling Road Country Club in Catonsville.
  • SPECIAL NOTICES:

  • Arts & Crafts Committee: meetings are normally held the 4th Monday - September through April at 9:30 AM at the clubhouse.
  • PENNIES FOR ART: Save your pennies to supplement Youth Art and bring them each month for collection.
  • The EDUCATION COMMITTEE continues to collect General Foods box tops and Campbell's UPC codes. It also requests you to Overlook Elementary School (Code #1096) as your recipient school for Giant's A+ Bonus Bucks. You must sign up each year in-store or register online at www.giantfood.com .
  • Literature Committee: meetings are held every 3rd Thursday at noon in members's homes, September through May. All club members are welcome.
  • The Evening Literary Committee meets on the third Monday at 7 p.m. at members' homes. All club members are welcome.
  • The INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE is collecting Children's Chewable Vitamins for the Ethiopian Orphanage in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The committee also accepts cash donations.
  • RONALD McDONALD HOUSE: This project collects the pull tabs from soft drink cans and small, travel-sized toiletries for the guests living at the house. Please bring these items to the clubhouse each month.
  • The Evening Group of the club: normally meets the 4th Monday of each month at 7PM unless otherwise listed. Call Jo Barker at 410-859-3308 for information.
