GFWC WOMEN’S CLUB OF ST. MARY’S - 2007-2008 CALENDAR

Friday, 20 April 2007, - “Taste of Paradise,” James A. Forrest Technical Center, Leonardtown, Maryland. Proceeds benefited Skills USA Program.

Thursday, 3 May 2007 – “Game Day,” Proceeds benefited Scholarship Fund.

Monday, 28 May, 2007 – “Awards Luncheon” honored Youth Art and scholarship winners. Also honored friends of the Women’s Club who have assisted with activities and fundraisers on a constant basis.

Saturday, 8 September 2007 – Season “Kick Off Picnic” with friends, family of club members, and prospective Juniorette club members at Greenwell State Park.

Saturday, 22 September 2007 – Club members march in the St. Mary’s County Fair parade. Members ride and walk carrying GFWC Women’s Club signs and tossing, beads and candy along the parade route. Members distribute club brochures and answer questions concerning membership. Young county fair guests will be canvassed concerning prospective membership in a new Juniorette Club.

Monday, September 24, 2007 – International Luncheon meeting at James A. Forrest Technical Center. Nations represented will include Mexico, Spain, Sweden, and Germany. Other cultures included are Celtic and Asian. Guest speaker will be our Maryland State Center, Senator Roy Dyson.

Saturday, 20 October 2007 - Sunday, 21 October 2007 - St. Mary’s County Oyster Festival. Women’s Club’s largest fundraiser of the year. Crafts, baked goods, women’s and baby boutique, and flavored coffees are offered. Proceeds are primarily for Scholarship Fund. St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds, Leonardtown, Route 5. Sat. 10 AM – 6 PM, Sun. 11 AM – 6 PM. One of the eastern seaboard's leading folk festivals, celebrates the opening of the oyster season. Two National competitions: the National Oyster Cook-Off and the U.S. National Oyster Shucking Championship.
