Photo: Trees with autumn colorsActivities in this department are designed to increase awareness of important issues like beautification of local communities, conserving America's natural resources, preserving our national parks and observing days that commemorate conservation activities.

Beautification Program

  • Participate in community beautification projects
    • Access the community's beautification needs.
    • Get projects ideas from GreenWorks!
    • Celebrate Keep America Beautiful Month in April
    • Work with teachers to encourage students to beautify their surroundings.
    • Order free vegetable and flower seeds from the America the Beautiful Fund. www.freeseeds.us.org
    • Initiate a wild flower planting project along community streets and highways.
    • Start a Memorial Day event to encourage the planting of flowers on the graves of our veterans.
    • Celebrate Earth Day annually on April 22.

Resource Conservation Program

  • Education, Awareness,& Practice
  • Participate in and/or organize litter prevention projects.

  • In Praise of the Trees please join us for a visit to Wye Island on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm. Celebrate the "Gift of Trees" and the site of the Tree Mendous Maryland Project at the GFWC Maryland Federation of Women's Clubs Federation Grove, DNR Conference Lodge, Carmichael Road, Queenstown, MD.
