Education Department

Activities in this department are designed to increase awareness of low literacy rates and the problems it causes; the need for mentoring; the plight of those with learning disabilities; the need for leadership skills; and the value of supporting our libraries.

Lifelong Learning

    • Family Literacy, Adult Literacy, Youth Literacy.
    • Read Across America Join the Federation in our celebration of Dr. Seuss'birthday on the first Monday every March when we will be serving Green Eggs and Ham and reading to elementary school children. Of course this date can be changed to suit your club's calendar. Encourage each of your club members to read to a child in March or April as part of your club's endeavor to promote LITERACY. The internet has many web pages with wonderful "party ideas". These are very informative ones:
    • Education & Awareness - Tutors & Volunteers: Our GFWC President is asking our clubs to recruit or become one of 7500 new tutors during this administration. She hopes we will reach at least 10,000 new students with our new tutors.
